First Wolverine, now a ‘Deadpool’ Christmas movie? Ryan Reynolds strikes again – with Deadpool (left), Jackman and McConaughey in a scene from Friday’s X-Men: Days of Future Past (Fox). Photo: AP
The X-Men are getting a Christmas this year at Fox, if reports are to be believed. In a tweet from Friday, Reynolds suggested that he could use the Christmas break to film a new version of his superhero blockbuster, X-Men: Days of Future Past, and suggested that the movie would be released December 25, 2013, if it does indeed arrive early next year.
“If X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST is done by Christmas Day, I will tell everyone,” posted Reynolds. “We’re shooting on Dec 24, so, fingers crossed, we could have a new film out in time for the holidays!”
It also seems as though Reynolds will be returning as Deadpool for his own Christmas movie. Last November, Reynolds told the Los Angeles Times that he was preparing to star in a “Deadpool” movie for the Christmas holiday this year. “I’ll do it,” he said, adding that it doesn’t matter if it’s a prelude to Deadpool 2, which has not yet hit theaters.
Reynolds, of course, is far from the first X-Factor actor that Fox has enlisted for a Christmas role. Along with Reynolds, Chris Cooper, Anna Paquin and Jennifer Lawrence are currently in the running to reprise their roles as the X-Men.
