Dingo the Dog, rescued from traffic accident in Brazil

Brazil police rescue dog becomes internet sensation. The dog’s owners, who were at the scene when the dog was shot, are in Brazil, waiting for the death sentence to be passed.

A dog rescued from an apparent traffic accident in Brazil has been featured in a Reddit post as the latest example of a “cute dog” that becomes an internet sensation.

On June 29, 2011, a photo of a dog named Dingo, which is now 13 years old, was posted on a Reddit forum under the post “Brazil cops stop traffic to give dog a second chance at life.”

The photo shows one of the police officers and the dog standing in front of a car. The post has thousands of comments and thousands of shares.

The original post was flagged as inappropriate for publication.

“Dingo is a dog who was given a second chance at life by the police who saw how he was injured,” posted Redditor jenabaker on June 29, 2011, under the original post.

The post has been shared more than 2,400 times and earned more than 5,000 comments.

One of the commenters on the original Reddit post, user “Mr_Whiney,” wrote in the comments: “LOL when in Rome…”

Reddit said it has removed the post and notified the post’s original poster.

The Reddit post has also been shared on a number of other social networking and photo sharing sites.

Dingo, whose owner was not identified by local news reports, was shot and killed by a police officer in central Rio de Janeiro on July 3, 2011.

The police shot Dingo without warning on a public street in front of another dog about the same size as Dingo’s size, the Associated Press reported at the time.

In an interview with ABC News, Dingo’s owner said he was trying to stop Dingo from urinating on himself when he was shot and killed. He said that he tried to stop Dingo from scratching himself also when he was shot.

“I didn’t kill the dog,” he told ABC News. “I had to shoot him.”
