Carlos Alcaraz to CNN: ‘I’m playing unbelievable tennis’

MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) — Carlos Alcaraz had one of the biggest wins of his career this year, but after nearly winning a fourth Australian Open title, he had a bigger reaction.
“I’m playing unbelievable tennis,” he said after his epic 6-7, 6-3, 6-3, 6-4 win over Andy Murray on Monday.
“You saw me going right into the back door, and I’m happy with that.”

Alcaraz said, “I hope Andy Murray does not get lucky and I will be in his back door.”
Alcaraz said he was fine with either situation — as he usually is on the big stages.
“I feel good going to big stages where I feel like I can win, and then go to big stages where I go to lose,” he said.
The 33-year-old from Spain was leading 3-0 when he hit a backhand winner to take the lead, and Murray called it a one-setter.
“The guy goes to sleep, and I’m the next to wake up,” he said. “What I like about him is that he can play so many different strokes and that he makes it look easy. That’s what we love, that he is a guy like that.”
Murray was more animated after he was up 10-7 against Alcaraz.
